“This being a 45 minute room made us feel really rushed to the point where we were overlooking a lot when trying to solve some of the puzzles. There's really no reason this shouldn't be a 60 minute room. We were on the last part when we ran out of time, but they gave us 5 more minutes so we could finish. Overall, the room was still fun, despite the short time given. The puzzles can be tough if you don't have a keen eye (it doesn't help if you feel rushed). One other thing to note is that the place is inside a mall and is not in the best area of the city, so make sure you go with at least a few others.”

“I loved the theme and idea of this room. Everything flowed very well and I was impressed with how well everything worked. The puzzle design was brilliant and had a few things I hadn’t seen before! I played it solo and needed about 5 more minutes to finish the last couple puzzles but nevertheless left highly satisfied. Staff were wonderful!”

“Info: if you escape the 2055 room, then you can come back to challenge the bonus room, which is another full price admission fee. The bonus room takes place in the same physical space but has completely different puzzles that are clearly marked as being part of the bonus room, so you know to ignore them in your first playthrough but can focus on them when you do the bonus room. They had a special deal where if you beat 2055 within 30 minutes, you get 50% your booking for the bonus room. Review: I did both rooms and loved them both! Great theming and satisfying puzzles to solve. Room is quite linear, so larger groups might not find enough to keep everyone occupied.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
